Candace GingrichCandace Gingrich, human rights activist, will speak at the Kansas State Student Union Ballroom in Manhattan, Kansas on Thursday, February 4, 1999, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Gingrich is National Coming Out Project Manager (NCOP) at the Human Rights Campaign Fund (HRC) in Washington, DC. Her half-brother is former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
Gingrich will give a thirty-minute talk and will invite others in a open mic format to talk about the political climate in Kansas and the U.S. with respect to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and other issues. Gingrich will answer questions during the open mic period. She has been briefed on the Kansas sodomy law, the situation at Emporia State, and other state issues. Representatives Kent Glasscock and Jeff Peterson, and Senator Lana Oleen have been invited to attend.
This event is free of charge and is open to the public.
Copies of Candace Gingrich's book, The Accidental Activist, will be on sale at the event. Gingrich will sign copies there.
