BGLS Happenings
By Mary Renee Smith, BGLS President

The year ended on a positive note for BGLS with a BBQ social on May 3rd. The next official meeting of BGLS will be sometime in late August; I'll be sure to let you all know the exact date soon.

Next years officers are Mary Renee Smith, president; Jeremy Mittel, vice-president; Chris Hurd, treasurer; and new commer Monifa Perry, secretary.

The 1998-99 school year will bring some new challenges and exciting new partnerships. This will be the first year that BGLS will be included in the K-State Racial and Ethnic Harmony Week celebration. This is a great new opportunity for us to make connections with other groups on campus and to make a positive image for ourselves in the community.

We will also be looking into getting some books on gay, lesbian and bisexual issues in Hale Library. As well as building on our speaker panel program and expanding them into new places.

Our meetings will have a new twist as well. We will still have one regular business meeting on the first Sunday of the month but the meeting on the third Sunday of the month will be a social event to be held either at someone home or other fun place.  We hope this will fill the need a lot of us have seen to just spend sometime together and have some fun.

Watch the BGLS web site for new developments and the few informal summer meetings.
