The Flint Hills Observer
December 1998

An editor’s pledge
By Chris Higgins
The Observer

With change, at times, comes apprehension. As the new editor of the Observer, my goal is to make certain this publication continues to provide Manhattan area les-bi-gays not only the information they need to keep abreast of the issues, but also provide a forum for the various viewpoints within the les-bi-gay community.

Those goals cannot be achieved, however, as the result of one person’s work, no matter how diligent their pursuit of them may be. To successfully reach and maintain those goals requires the input and support of our community. As Deb Taylor passes the mantle of Editor to me, I ask for your support and help in keeping one another informed of the issues. If there is an event or an issue you feel the Observer should address, please contact me through e-mail, post or telephone. If you wish to submit a letter to the editor, mail it to the Observer. Please include your name and a way in which to contact you to confirm receipt of your letter. Names will not be published without written permission from the author of a letter.

In return for your assistance, I vow to protect and ensure the privacy of Observer subscribers.

I vow to provide Observer subscribers with the most accurate information possible regarding the issues facing the les-bi-gay community on local, state and national levels.

I vow to be accessible to Observer subscribers and to take their comments and suggestions to heart.

I vow to serve you, the Observer subscribers, to the best of my ability.

I look forward to working with you to keep our community informed.
